![]() It travels through a beautiful forest and provides a couple of different access points to the lake (including a public dock). This hiking trail is located on the eastern side of Fallen Leaf Lake. This hiking trail is barely 1.25 miles long (one-way) making it an ideal trail for young and old hikers, or athletically-inclined people looking for a quick “nature fix.” Just make sure you hike down to the lake and back a couple of times to get those extra tenths of a mile! It’s just a nice forested hiking trail that offers respite from the busy-ness that can be Lake Tahoe. Keep in mind, though, that this trail isn’t particularly flashy or stunning. And, it hosts a surprisingly diverse amount of wildlife and plant life. This hiking trail is located on the east side of Fallen Leaf Lake and is secluded and generally untraveled. Rather, I’d like to offer one of my favorite hiking trails at Fallen Leaf Lake that’s slightly more structured than those social trails. Long story short, it would be a fool’s errand to map out each and every one of these little “wandering” trails. They’re mostly short, and they generally all lead to some aspect of the shoreline. I find this to be the case during the heart of summer and closer to the campground (located on the north side of the lake).Īs a result of all this foot traffic, there are countless social trails on the north side of Fallen Leaf Lake. But, because Fallen Leaf Lake is so popular, it can become crowded. And for good reason! There are tons of access points to the lake, and the water is always refreshing. Glen Alpine Falls, Lily Lake, and trails to Desolation Wilderness are a short hike up the road, and the Angora Lakes lie just over a ridge.Fallen Leaf Lake is one of the most popular summer play locations on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. Fallen Leaf Lake is a secluded, charming community, with unparalleled, out-the-door access to the lake and hiking trails. The cabin is part of the Fallen Leaf Lake HOA which maintains parking areas, common spaces and picnic area, a private swim dock, and beach. A Ski Centurion water-ski boat and three top-ride kayaks are included in the sale. The cabin is sold furnished with some exclusions. The other half of the basement is unfinished, and is used as winter storage for outdoor furniture and kayaks. The full basement features a wine cellar, a custom cedar dry sauna with adjacent cold shower, a laundry area, a generous custom-racked storage area for wetsuits, life vests, kayak paddles, water skis, wakeboards, and boating tube (all included), chairs for the swim dock, and a wall of storage cabinets. Two other bedrooms and a full bath are also located upstairs. The primary bedroom features a separate sink area, two large closets, a built-in dresser topped with bookshelves, and a bay window with a spectacular view over the lake. The hall landing window provides a magnificent view of nearby Cathedral Peak, which towers over the lake. The upstairs has a spacious hall landing, a built-in bench seat/bed, and an under-eaves children's clubhouse with a speak-easy window. The manzanita stair rail to the upper floor was custom-built to echo the staircase at the historic original lodge at Stanford Sierra Camp down the road. The office alcove has a peaceful view of the grounds a separate built-in window seat can serve as a guest bed. Also on the first floor is a full bath and a large bedroom which functions as a TV room (with built-in TV cabinet), office, and guest room. The living area features an efficient wood-burning stone fireplace and custom built-in shelves for games and books. Waterworks faucets and fittings, Rocky Mountain Hardware and Nanz door handles and knobs, and custom Hammerton lighting are used throughout the home. The kitchen features Wolf, Subzero, and Miele appliances. Stairs from the deck provide quick, direct access to the Marina, store, and shoreline. The beamed dining/living area has spectacular views out over the lake, and opens out through custom Dutch and screen doors onto a roomy lake-view deck. ![]() The front door opens to a stone-floored entry hall with a custom bench and built-in coat rack. It has been completely renovated and features board-and-batten clear pine walls, beamed ceilings, satin-finished cherry hardwood or stone floors, custom doors and cabinets, honed soapstone counters, and custom pale celadon green tile. With 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, it can sleep up to 13. This pristine Fallen Leaf Lake cabin has direct access to the marina, boat dock, and lake shoreline. ![]()
